Government’s ‘100 Days Employment Generation’ and ‘Integrated
Compost’ Project
Internet Edition
Years of continuous
implementation of too much of chemical fertilizers, soil has lost its
fertility. Farmers are bound to believe that bio-fertilizer is the most
inevitable ingredient for agriculture, now. Their earnest demand is having the
full-access to fertilizer. This is no more an entirely unbelievable case or a
fantasy- it’s been already well-proved by the workers of the compost project. A
particular region, Tekpara in Baghata of Narsingdi District has been chosen for
preparing the compost, which is belted all around with water. The pond is full
of water-hyacinth, which is being used as the most favourable ingredient. From
dawn till the evening, men and women are working hand in hand to pick the
water-hyacinth and heaping those aside. The ultra-poor, marginal, landless,
unemployed, destitute- no matter how we term them, each of them has an
intensive affinity with agriculture. And, these listed people are experiencing
the good fruits ofgovernment’s
‘100 Days Employment
Generation’ project. And, regarding this, here a ‘Field Day’ is running on,
where not only the agro-labourers but also the male and female farmers are
learning. Top to bottom of the project is being demonstrated by local
Sub-Assistant Agriculture Officer (SAAO), Abdus Satter. Through this process,
in three months, 6 kgs of Urea, 10 kgs of Phosphate, 6 kgs of Potash and
including everything, 22 kgs of mixed-fertilizer is being produced. This will
meet up the fertilizer demand of at least .33 acres of land, which can be
implemented on any crop. Works that are to be resolved phase-wise, all of those
are now very well understood by all the workers here already. Even, the female
peasants have well understood all the process of compost making. No matter how
insignificant we evaluate the endeavour, this is really a great achievement!
Once, fertilizer is the most inevitable ingredient, and whilst the urge to save
the soil has arrived, then the process of making mixed-fertilizer should have
to remain under the knowledge of each male and female of the rural villages in
the country. Once there was a time when in each household of the rural
villages, compost bio-fertilizer was being made with the assistance of cow-dung
and of the household remains. However, the initiative of making bio-fertilizer
has become dizzy in time’s course. Dependence went much more on the side of
costly chemical fertilizer. The unavailability of fertilizer, every year, puts
the agriculture in peril, seasonally. Now, the compost method of the
mixed-fertilizer can superbly move forward the agriculture of the country! Let
us concentrate on ‘100
Days Employment Generation’ project. Countrywide project of 2000 crore BDT will
create work opportunity for 20,00,000 people. Basically, works related with
increasing agricultural produce are being completed through this project. Apart
from this, with initiatives like preparing bio-fertilizer, excavating ponds,
building drains, forming dams to prevent flood and constructing rural roads,
the registered people are being affiliated. In the Ward of Shilmandi Union,
Ward Member, Abdul Baten has well accepted specially the compost preparing
programme of ‘100
Days Employment Generation’ project. He really wants to take this project to
further distance. The preparation programme of mixed-fertilizer can move onward
with everyone’s appreciation. And, with this, the long-term success may arrive
from the ‘100 Days
Employment Generation’ project. In our country, employment-based governmental
allocation and assistance was always there. But, in most cases, the long-term
success of those projects could never have been achieved. This time,
farmer-friendly ‘100
Days Employment Generation’ project as the direct governmental financial
assistance can play an effective role in the future. Nevertheless, after the
end of the project, the Agriculture Extension Department i.e. the Agriculture
Ministry has to keep up the activities moving onward.
