Ahead
of 2011-2012 national budget, Channel i's famous agricultural documentary
Hridoye Mati O Manush submitted 53
recommendations to the Finance Minister Abul Maal Abdul Muhith. Today, 22ndof May, Sunday, at the seminar room of the finance ministry, agriculture
development and media personality, Director & Head of News of Channel i,
Shykh Seraj handed over the proposals through a formal event.
During the
occasion, officials from finance ministry were present along with journalists
from different media organizations. This was the sixth time Hridoye Mati O
Manush submitted recommendations targeting the agricultural development before
the final budget announcements. The 53 recommendations focused predominantly on
mainstream agriculture (17), fisheries (11), poultry (14) and livestock (11).
Finance Minister praised the extended activity of
Shykh Seraj, saying, “He has built bridges between farmers and the government”.
As the recommendations highlight the real crises of farmers from the fields,
it’s becoming easier for the policy level of the government to take effective
initiative for agricultural development.
“Government has taken effective measures
to develop the agriculture sector, meanwhile as you can see the good results
have spread across Bangladesh”, Finance Minister added. He affirmed government
will keep on working to develop the sector. The minister believes the
recommendations will have its reflection on the upcoming budget. At the event,
a short video-documentary, based on five venues where Krishi Budget Krishoker Budget (Farmers’ Voices in Budget)
pre-budget open-field programmes were held, was screened.
