Essay Competition
Each year, regarding the glorious occasion of Hridoye Mati O Manush anniversary, Channel-i proudly arranges the Agriculture Award to pay tribute and homage to the unsung heroes of our country…our extremely talented and toiling farmers, which is the novel practice that we started in Bangladesh. Kartik Pramanik and Haripada Kapali are the brightest and the most effective examples of the great findings of Agriculture Award. This year (2008) Syed Keramat Ali was awarded for his great contribution to uplift an entire community in sweet water shrimp farming. A part of the anniversary programme of Hridoye Mati O Manush also includes ‘Essay Competition’ on particular topics. Hridoye Mati O Manush requests witty essays, having specific focus on given topics, specially from the Bengali-speaking communities, living all around the world. Following the same direction, we have again arranged the ‘Essay Competition’ for the third time. An impartial, most reputed and accredited Judge Panel would finally chose 100 best essays, which has been already published in Janabhashya-3/People’s Voice-3. Janabhashya-1 and Janabhashya-2 were published earlier. Janabhashya-3 is going to be published on the 28th March, 2008 on the occasion of Agriculture Award 2008 at China Bangladesh Conference Centre.
The Essay Competition is yet another revolutionary concept of Shykh Seraj. He started his mission with a view to aware each and everyone of the country. Specially, he wanted to change the definition of agriculture out of its olden wrapping. He said very confidently that farmers could also be found from the city areas, not only from the rural areas. With that motto, thousands of farmers came out from the city implementing Micro-Gardening, shown by Shykh Seraj on BTV. After the Micro-Gardening concept was very much successful, Shykh Seraj thought what are the other ways to inspire all these people…how to involve the intellect of the people with agriculture?
Well, the rest is the reality of Janabhashya. Shykh Seraj thought it would be the best option to involve the brains of the educated and concerned people with agriculture. There will be an essay competition, having specific topics, on which the Bengali speaking people can send their essays. More brains started getting involved. After the television promo and newspaper advertisement of the Essay Competition, writings from around the world started raining over. Yes, the first edition of Janabhashya-1 was finally published. A dream come true for Shykh Seraj and Hridoye Mati O Manush. Then, he never looked back.
Even, to all the universities of Bangladesh, a letter was sent to the specific authority to inspire their students to send essays to the competition. And, most importantly this competition has no age barrier. Now, the 3rd version is going to be published.
On this year’s competition, the topics those were chosen are:
1. The Utility of Hridoye Mati O Manush in the Economic Progress of the Agriculture-governed Bangladesh.
2. Forecast of Agricultural Planning of ‘Under-threat’ Bangladesh, Amidst Changing Environment and Natural Disaster.
After the primary selection, a reputed judge panel was involved in the final selection to find out 6 winners from both topic categories (3 from each category).
Next year, Janabhashya is going to get even bigger- that is what Shykh Seraj is thinking at the moment. Making it even wider and breaking the barrier of language would also be under his concern in the next essay competition. |
